Svetlana Fenster is a soft pastel painter based in Cyprus. She researches the possibilities of soft pastels and explores the means of their impact on the viewer. Svetlana is a member of the National Union of Pastelists of Russia (NSP) in "Experienced Artist" status. Her works are in private collections worldwide.

Having built her career in IT technologies, Svetlana turns to the reverse side of technology, considering it essential to work with the topic of internal privacy and rethinking, studying such an important issue of sustainability. In a world with rapidly changing circumstances, the artist seeks a way out in inner harmony and unity with nature. The creation of works in a living environment is significant for her.

Back to the roots — environmental festival

I am glad to be a participant of the ecological festival “Back to the roots”, combining the educational aspect with concrete actions to protect the environment.
Back to the roots -environmental festival accompanied by a variety of interactive activities, workshops, performances, and educational sessions that promote environmental stewardship. ART Forest Exhibition represented artworks created by local artists and sculptors.
In 2024 more than 4,252 m2 of forest area in Cyprus was affected by fire. Back to the roots - a full-day public event featuring innovative tree-planting techniques for planting trees in the fire-affected area

Series of works «The Basics»‎ for the «Science Library of the Future»‎ project

For the «Science Library of the Future» project, I created a dramatic series of three pieces called «The Basics", reflecting on the role of the library and its transformation in the modern world:

"With the advent of books, the cultural heritage of civilisations settled on paper pages. Books not only facilitated the transmission of knowledge, but also fuelled the creation of the world's first universities. Over time, numerous book depositories turned into libraries, striking in their scale and architectural forms. And now, as the flow of information has moved far beyond the bookshelves and print media give way to electronic media, the role of the library is changing with incredible speed. It acts as a link between the past and the future. And we, the generation that grew up with books, are actively participating in this transformation"

In realising my ideas, I began by capturing the eye-catching textures of the Science Library. These textures were at the centre of the intention of the graphic works. The charcoal took over the main task, it was left to me to set the accents. Books, people and the silhouette of the city grew with light pastel movements.

The Scientific Library of the Future is a platform for communication and co-operation between RUDN Scientific Library and creative communities via Instagram @nbb_project.

The art exhibition in the halls of the RUDN Scientific Library was a part of the «Science Library of the Future» project and included more than 40 works by artists from the Association of Pleinair Artists and other artistic associations inspired by the aesthetics of the modern Scientific Library. Thanks to curator Anna Orlova for the idea and realisation of the project, which won the competition of the New Media Lab at Winzavod.

Together Forever

On 10-11 May, a community of artists and musicians organised an art event in support of the Together Forever charity at Gallery Morfi, Limassol, Cyprus.

The theme of the exhibition was very much in tune with me, about choices and the timeless road that changes destinies. The idea was inspired by the legendary El Camino de Santiago, the pilgrim route that connects cities and countries. Within the walls of the gallery, narratives intertwined, converging and diverging, while visitors were invited to reflect on their own life journey.

All funds raised from the charity lottery and sales were directed to help Alfiya Zharlygasyn, a ward of the Together Forever Foundation. Alfiya has already received the treatment she needed in a clinic in Israel.

Together Forever Foundation was established in Cyprus in October 2016 to help children. The Foundation's activities are aimed at saving children with brain or spinal cord diseases and their treatment in clinics in Israel, Germany, Spain and Cyprus.

Inspiring Cyprus

Group exhibition of Cypriot artists from the CYSketch community, Nearchos art studio, Limassol.

Twelve artists presented their works in different techniques. I prepared two series of works in gratitude and admiration of the island, inspired by the unique atmosphere of the Cypriot mountains and the mysteries of Troodos. The uniqueness of these places is difficult to describe in words.

On the 1st of June, Children's Day, the creative community of Cyprus supported the GoDar Studio at the Markideio Theatre in Paphos. I was glad to take part in the Art Action, where more than 20 Cypriot artists joined forces and prepared a unique exhibition for the play ‘The Blue Bird’. A huge thank you to Marina for the initiative and to Catherine for the stunning production.

The play and the exhibition of contemporary art works filled the evening in Paphos with a unique atmosphere of creativity, communication and support.

Lellos Art Point is an exhibition space located in the Old Town of Limassol, Cyprus. It hosts art exhibitions and cultural events. The gallery aims to build a strong artistic community in the region.

IMAGINARY
‘Imaginary’ is a virtual group exhibition by Tapiial Virtual gallery, Satiago, Chile

‘Moments, sensations, visual explorations that reflect and give interpretations that connect imaginary realities.’ IMAGINARY brings together artworks of different formats that transport us to different scenes.

I'm glad that I was among the five contemporary artists selected by Tapiial Virtual galleries to participate in the exhibition, which opened on 17 February 2024.

Tapiial Virtual is a virutal exhibition space for international designers, artists and architects.

Collaboration with a palliative care centre
I am immensely happy to perform in this charity event as an artist. This is not the only charity event I have participated in, but it is one of the largest. Exclusively my works hang on the walls of one of the wards of the largest Palliative Care Centre in Moscow.

These interior paintings are made in oil on large canvases, and I gave them to the hospice in early 2022. The address of the centre: 6, Dvintsev Street, Moscow.
